How does Crossed work?

Post a moment describing a person you saw at a specific place and time. If that person also posts a moment about the same encounter, we match you when you were both within 1km and within ±3 hours of each other. Keywords then refine how strong the match is. Both parties are notified and can choose to connect.

What are keywords?

Keywords are descriptive tags that help identify the person you saw, like "red backpack", "reading book", or "wearing glasses". You need at least 3 keywords per moment. More specific keywords improve match accuracy.

How does the match score work?

A crossing requires you to have been within 1km and within ±3 hours of each other. Only moments that meet both are ever shown. Among those, each match is scored out of 100: closer in time scores higher, and shared keywords add to the score, so stronger overlaps rise to the top.

What is the Verification Question?

When posting a moment, you can set a secret question that only the person you saw would know the answer to (e.g. "What colour was the bag I was carrying?"). When someone sends a connection request, they must answer your question, which helps you confirm they are the right person before accepting.

What if more than one person responds to my moment?

That is normal, and it is why the verification question exists. Your moment stays open after the first connection, so you can talk to everyone who reaches out and work out who the right person is. Each connection appears on the moment in My Moments with its own chat. When you have found them, tap Close Moment to stop new people reaching out.

What does it mean when a moment is closed?

A closed moment stops appearing in Nearby and stops matching, so nobody new can reach out about it. It stays in your Moments under Closed, and any chats it created are untouched. A moment closes in one of two ways: you tap Close Moment once you have found the person, or it closes on its own 30 days after you posted it.

Can I share a moment?

Yes. Open a moment you posted and tap Share to get a public link (a "Moment Card") you can send to friends or post on social media. Anyone who opens it sees the place, time, keywords, and description, but never your identity. It is a great way to reach the person faster. Sharing is optional, and deleting the moment disables the link.

What is Quick Connect?

Quick Connect (Radar) lets you go live for 10 minutes when you are at a place, and connects you only with people who are live at the same time. Your location stays private and everyone appears as a dot, so you can never browse a list of who is nearby. Waving is how you choose to say hello first. When you wave, the person receiving it sees your name if they have Pro, so they can decide whether to wave back; free members see "Someone near you". If you both wave, you each confirm and the chat opens. You can ignore a wave or go offline at any time.

How do I report someone?

Open the chat, tap the menu at the top right, and choose Report User. To report a moment, open it and tap Report. Choose a reason, add any details that would help us review it, and send. You can block them at the same time from the same sheet.

What happens after I report someone?

It reaches us straight away and a person reads it, usually within a day. We may remove content, suspend the account, or ban it permanently. The person you report is never told who reported them, and nothing you write in a report is shown to them. If you blocked them too, that takes effect immediately and does not wait for us.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. Crossed is for adults only and you must be 18 or over. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and check it before the account is created. If you believe an account belongs to someone under 18, report it, choose Something Else, and say so in the box. We treat those first.

Why does Crossed ask for my gender?

It sets the colour of your profile icon and of your dot on the Quick Connect radar: violet for male, magenta for female, so people can tell at a glance. Other members see the colour, never the word. You can change it any time from Profile > Account Settings > Edit Profile.

What does the person I crossed paths with mean?

When you post a moment you say whether the person you saw was male or female. It describes the stranger you are trying to find, not you, so nobody learns anything about you from it, and it is what puts your moment in front of the right person. On Discover you can filter a search the same way.

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. Your exact location is never shown to anyone: on Quick Connect you are an anonymous dot, and other members are only told how far away you are. Your moments carry no name or photo. Your name goes to someone when you send them a connection request, and you see theirs once they accept. On Quick Connect, a Pro member you wave at sees your name with the wave.

Can I lock the app with my fingerprint or face?

Yes, in the Crossed mobile app. Open Profile and turn on Biometric Lock under Preferences. Crossed will then ask for your fingerprint, face or device passcode each time you open it, and again if you leave it in the background for a while. Your phone does the check and Crossed never sees or stores your fingerprint or face. It is a per-device setting, so turning it on for your phone does not affect other devices. If your fingerprint or face is not recognised you can always fall back to your device passcode, and if you ever get stuck the lock screen offers a Sign out option.

Will Crossed send me news or offers?

Only if you say yes. Crossed asks once, and you can change your answer at any time: open Profile and turn News and Offers on or off under Preferences. Turning it off does not affect notifications about your own requests, waves and messages. Now and then Crossed may also send an important notice about the service itself, such as planned downtime.

Where is my account signed in?

Go to Profile > Account Settings > Devices. It lists every device your account is signed in on, with an approximate location and when each was last active, and This Device marks the one you are holding. Tap Sign Out on anything you do not recognise. Sign Out from All Devices clears every one of them, this device included, so you will be signed out here too. Either way, getting back in needs a new sign-in code.

Will you tell me if someone signs in to my account?

Yes. If your account is opened on a device it has not been used on before, and another device is already signed in, we email you the device, the approximate location and the time. If it was not you, open Devices from that email and sign it out.

How can I sign in?

With Google, with Apple, or with a one-time code sent to your email. Use the same one each time: each way of signing in is tied to its own email address, so a different one may open a new account.

Can I change my username?

Yes, once every 14 days. Go to Profile, tap your name at the top, and change the Username field. Usernames are unique and use lowercase letters, numbers, dots and underscores. If the one you want is already taken, you will be told before you save. Once you confirm it, the field is locked for 14 days and shows how long is left. Your display name is not locked and can be changed at any time.

Can anyone read my messages?

Chats are encrypted. Messages are encrypted on your phone before they are sent and are stored only in encrypted form. The keys are kept in a separate encrypted vault and only unlock on devices you are signed in on, which is why your chats are there straight away on a new phone. We do not read your messages.

How do I report a message then?

Reporting is how anything reaches us. When you report someone, your own device sends us what you are reporting so we can act on it. Nothing else in that conversation is ever visible to us.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, and there are two ways. Profile > Account Settings > Deactivate Account hides your profile and moments without deleting anything; sign in whenever you want it back. Delete Account in the same place is permanent and immediate. If you cannot sign in, use the form at gocrossed.com/delete-account.

What are the daily limits on a free account?

Free accounts get 3 moments, 3 connection requests and 3 Quick Connect waves per day. Each allowance is counted separately, and all of them reset at midnight, Sri Lanka time. Crossed Pro removes every daily cap.

How do I upgrade to Pro?

In the Crossed app, go to Profile > Upgrade to Pro and choose monthly or annual. You pay through the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android, and Pro turns on as soon as the payment is confirmed. Pro removes the daily limits on moments, connection requests and Quick Connect waves, widens the radar from 100m to 250m, and adds read receipts, seeing who waved at you, and early access to new features.

Does Pro renew automatically? How do I cancel?

Pro never renews automatically, so you are never charged again without choosing to. It runs for the month or year you bought, then your account goes back to the free plan. If you want to end it early, go to Profile > Plans & Subscriptions > Cancel Pro: it ends straight away and the time left is not refunded. We remind you 3 days before it ends. If you buy again before then, the new time is added on top of what you have left.

Where is my receipt?

The App Store or Google Play emails your receipt as soon as you pay, to the email on that store account. You can also find it in your purchase history there. Your plan, start date and end date are always in Profile > Plans & Subscriptions.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by whoever took the payment: Apple for purchases on iPhone, Google for purchases on Android. Request it from them, and if it is approved, Pro is removed from your account automatically. Our Refund Policy has the details.

I paid but Pro did not turn on. What now?

Your payment is safe. Open the Crossed app again and it confirms the purchase automatically, usually within a minute. If it still is not on, write to support@gocrossed.com with the order number from your receipt. On Android, Google Play refunds a payment automatically if it cannot be confirmed within three days.

Do I keep Pro on a new phone?

Yes. Pro belongs to your Crossed account, not to the phone, so it is there on any device you sign in on, including the web.

Can other people see that I am on Pro?

No. Your Pro badge appears on your own profile and nowhere else. Nobody you match with, chat with or cross paths with is told whether you pay for Crossed.
